Access Control Services Ltd is a limited company. In April 2002 the company was incorporated after 21 successful years trading as a partnership. Founded in 1979, initially as a security distribution and consultancy service serving the emerging access control sector of the UK security industry, ACS has been manufacturing and designing microprocessor based security systems since the mid 1980’s.
Day-to-day activity now focuses on the equally important tasks of manufacturing and development – as well as sales and technical support for our system integrator/installer network.
We believe our systems should have an expected product lifetime of at least 15 years. This very-long-term strategic planning requirement has always been important for PLAN customers (typically large organisations who could spend 10-years rolling the system out across an extended estate).
Future proofing has been part of the design intent for PLAN field equipment since 1986. Although a continuous development program exists for all aspects of the system (software, hardware and firmware) we have ensured that no system has been rendered obsolete since the initial product launch. This is a unique claim in an industry where it is common for system manufacturers to release the next generation of their products with no legacy support or compatibility with existing equipment.
